Organisers of The Solheim Cup 2005 have announced that tickets to see the USA and Europe at Crooked Stick GC from September 9-11 next year will be limited to maximize spectators’ viewing enjoyment.
Due to the international popularity of the event after a hugely successful staging of last years matches at Barsebäck Golf & Country Club in Sweden where nearly 100,000 spectators witnessed an historical victory for Europe, organisers in America opted for a random draw policy for tickets.
Spectators wishing to purchase tickets to the biggest event in women’s golf must first enter their applications, either via the Internet, or by telephone before December 31 2004. However, entry into the draw is no guarantee of tickets.
The random drawing will take place on January 9, 2005 and all applicants will receive confirmation as to their ticket status no later than January 30, 2005. Once tickets are confirmed, payment information will be processed and there are no refunds or exchanges.
The maximum number of tickets that may be ordered by one individual cannot exceed six. No duplicate applications will be accepted. Payment must be received at the time of ordering either by check (payable to the LPGA) or by credit card (MasterCard or Visa). Please note that cheques will not be cashed or credit cards charged prior to January 9, 2005. All tickets are valid Tuesday until Sunday and include the three practice days (Tuesday – Thursday); Opening Ceremony (Thursday afternoon); the three official days of competition (Friday – Sunday); and the Closing Ceremony (Sunday afternoon). Children 15 years of age and younger are admitted free of charge when accompanied by a ticketed adult.
Grounds Ticket – $65 for the week giving admittance to the grounds of Crooked Stick Golf Club with access to various concession stands, restroom facilities and bleachers located on site.
PING Pavilion – $150 for the week giving admittance to the grounds of Crooked Stick Golf Club and all facilities set up for spectators. In addition it provides admittance to the PING Pavilion hospitality tent located between holes #11 & #12 on the course and overlooking the #14 fairway. The Pavilion provides a climate-controlled environment with a patio, seating areas, televisions, restrooms and a complete upscale pay-as-you-go menu.
Solheim After Sundown – Individual tickets are $100 and include this first-time community event held in conjunction with The Solheim Cup. Your ticket includes admittance to the grounds on Tuesday, September 6th, parking for the day, entrance into the PING Pavilion all day and at night for the evening entertainment by The Polkaboy, dinner and silent auction. This night’s proceeds will benefit junior golf initiatives in our community and your contribution is partially tax deductible.
The Solheim Cup is a biennial, trans-Atlantic match-play event featuring the 12 best US-born players from the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour and the 12-best European-born players from the Robe di Kappa Ladies European Tour.
Sponsored by PING golf equipment, The Solheim Cup is named in honour of Karsten Solheim, the founder of Karsten Manufacturing Corporation, which makes PING golf equipment.
In 1990, the Solheim family, in conjunction with the LPGA and the then Women Professional Golfers’ European Tour, developed the concept and became the title sponsor for The Solheim Cup, professional golf’s international match-play competition for women. Held every two years, the event has grown into a prestigious international women’s professional golf event.
The Solheim Cup is the most highly coveted trophy in women’s professional golf team competition; some of the most memorable moments in women’s golf have happened during one of The Solheim Cups, and berths on the US and European teams are highly sought after by players from both Tours.
The US Solheim Cup Team, captained by LPGA Tour and World Golf Hall of Fame member Nancy Lopez, enters the 2005 event with a 5-3 advantage over the European Solheim Cup Team, which will once again be captained by Sweden’s Catrin Nilsmark. The US Team owns a perfect 4-0 record on home soil and will be looking to avenge its loss from the 2003 event.
