Long-time caddie Fred Collins finally achieved one of his dreams on Tuesday when he caddied for Laura Davies during the Pro Am at the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters.
Collins was the longest serving of any caddie, player or staff member on the Ladies European Tour having worked for a number of competitors over 32 years, since the Tour’s formation in 1978 when it was just a series of Pro Ams.
After calling it quits, the LET Caddies’ Association organised a retirement gift of a special two-week business class trip to the Hero Honda Women’s Indian Open and the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters for Collins, who was often voted as the smartest caddie on Tour on account of his impeccable appearance.
Collins admitted to feeling slightly nervous before heading out with the 79-time champion and four-time major winner before the Pro Am, but quickly relaxed as they both enjoyed their day in the desert sun.
