Europe wins the Chef’s Cup at Linguaglossa!

The Chef’s Cup took place on Saturday evening during the Sicilian Ladies Italian Open at Boccaperta Restaurant in Linguaglossa (Sicily).

In a tribute to The Solheim Cup, teams from the United States and Europe faced each other in a cooking competition. Laura Diaz represented the USA while Melissa Reid, represented Europe. The chefs were assisted by Vikki Laing and Giulia Sergas respectively and their coach was head time was the real head chef of the restaurant, Rosario Vitale, who gave instructions to both teams.

Traditional Sicilian dishes were cooked by each team and six referees sampled the food to decide the winner.

The USA team prepared Spaghetti Carbonara while Europe cooked sausages with saffron rice. After a tough battle, the final result was Europe 4.5 and USA 1.5.

Local media and competitors enjoyed a wonderful evening at the Boccaperta restaurant, hosted by owner and sommelier Concetta Costiglione, who runs the establishment together with Rosario. Magnificent food, a warm ambience and friendship created an event that may be repeated in future years.  Europe was the inaugural winner but stay tuned for the next edition.
