United States Solheim Cup team member Christina Kim is making her second appearance in the Italian Open this week and is full of confidence after winning the Pro Am at Il Picciolo Golf Club on Thursday.
The Californian first visited Italy for the 2009 Italian Open at Le Rovedine Milano and is now seeing Sicily for the first time.
“I have never been to Sicily so the last time, two years ago, the first LET I played in was in Milan so it was nice that I had a chance to come to the tournament that was my inspiration for coming to the LET,” said Kim, who is a member of both the LPGA and LET.
“It has been a beautiful week so far and the accommodations are spectacular. The food is some of the finest food I’ve ever had. The people are great, the golf course, the greens are fantastic and I’m really excited to go out and have a good week.
“I am feeling good about my game. I felt good last week and I missed the cut so I don’t know if I’m supposed to feel good but I won the Pro Am so I must be doing something right and hopefully it’s going to be a great week because I love it out here. It’s been a lot of fun already and it’s only Thursday.”
After playing in The Solheim Cup in Ireland a fortnight ago, Kim made an appearance at last week’s Lacoste Ladies Open de France near Paris and also plans to play at the season-ending Omega Dubai Ladies Masters on the LET.
