Henderson Rookie Stacey Keating from Australia

Australian Stacey Keating and Frenchwoman Virginie Lagoutte-Clement were the early leaders as the Lacoste Ladies Open de France began on a beautiful opening morning at Paris International Golf Club.

Henderson Rookie Keating birdied five holes on the way out to be five under par at the turn. She was tied for the lead with Lagoutte-Clement who had six birdies and a bogey in her first 12 holes and who is aiming to become the first home winner of the title since Stephanie Arricau in 2004.

The pair were a stroke ahead of England’s Sophie Walker, with Italian Diana Luna, the runner-up to Trish Johnson last year – and England’s Felicity Johnson a stroke further behind.

Laura Davies, no doubt buoyed by her part in Sunday’s Solheim Cup triumph, was at level par after 12 holes, while fellow Solheim Cup star Caroline Hedwall was one under after 12.

United States Solheim Cup team member Christina Kim starts her round at 1.10pm and will play alongside France’s Jade Schaeffer, who won the Raiffeinsbank Prague Golf Masters three weeks ago, as well as the Lalla Meryem Cup champion Zuzana Kamasova from Slovakia.
