Spain claimed a second victory in the fifth edition of the Evian Masters Junior Cup, a veritable golf world cup for the best under-14 players, which took place on 16 and 17 July 2011 on the course at the Evian Masters Golf Club.
Following Friday’s opening ceremony on the 18th green, the 60 best players in the world, aged under-14, launched into the competition on Saturday. In total, 15 teams teed-off: each team comprising two boys and two girls – representing 10 European nations and five international nations, the United States, Japan, China, India and Mexico. The top three teams were the 2008 champion, team Spain (212), the United States (213) and France (215), the 2010 champion. America’s Brad Dalke was impressive, showing all of his determination to lead the American team to victory. His score, 67 (-5), the best score of the day, turned out to be the best score of the tournament, as unrelenting rain on Sunday forced the organisers to cancel the second and final round. The planned battle between the three leaders was cut short. Alejandra Pasarin produced the best girls’ score enabling Spain to top the leader board for the second time, ahead of the United States and France.
