Stretch of massive tournaments begins with the Evian Masters in France |
The Solheim Cup will be at the forefront of the Ladies European Tour players’ minds as they head into the summer stretch of tournaments that takes in the Evian Masters presented by Societe Generale, the Ricoh Women’s British Open, the Ladies Irish Open, supported by Fáilte Ireland and the Aberdeen Ladies’ Scottish Open presented by EventScotland.
Next week’s Evian Masters kicks off a three-week stretch of massive tournaments on the Ladies European Tour schedule. The 18th edition of the $3.25 million event at Evian Masters Golf Club in Evian-les-Bains, France, takes place from July 21-24, bringing together the best players in world of golf. The definitive list of the 111 players entered has now been completed with 35 Ladies European Tour members in the field.
In alphabetical order, they are: Caroline Afonso, Christel Boeljon, Becky Brewerton, Anne-Lise Caudal, Laura Davies, Sandra Gal, Sophie Giquel-Bettan, Julieta Granada, Sophie Gustafson, Caroline Hedwall, Maria Hjorth, Trish Johnson, Zuzana Kamasova, Christina Kim, Hyun-Ji Kim, In Kyung Kim, Virginie Lagoutte-Clement, Diana Luna, Catriona Matthew, Ai Miyazato, Azahara Munoz, Gwladys Nocera, Anna Nordqvist, Lee-Anne Pace, Suzann Pettersen, Beatriz Recari, Melissa Reid, Caroline Rominger, the 2010 champion Jiyai Shin, Ashleigh Simon, Kristie Smith, Karen Stupples, Iben Tinning, Maria Verchenova and Amy Yang.
That list includes six of the 10 invited players, who are: Afonso, Caudal, Giquel-Bettan, Verchenova, Granada and Rominger as well as Grace Park, Sharmila Nicollet, Mariajo Uribe, and Cindy LaCrosse.
The five alternates are Lindsey Wright, Jennifer Song, Florentyna Parker, Paige MacKenzie, Mina Harigae and Sarah Jane Smith.

Double Solheim Cup points will be available for a victory at both the Evian Masters presented by Societe Generale and the following week’s Ricoh Women’s British Open, with extra points awarded for top 20 finishes.
The storied Carnoustie Golf Links in Angus, Scotland, will host the Ricoh Women’s British Open for the first time from July 28-31.
Then, at the following week’s Ladies Irish Open, supported by Fáilte Ireland, the strongest ever field will tackle Killeen Castle, The Solheim Cup venue, from August 5-7, with a host of Europe and America’s top female golf professionals confirming their participation in the field.

More twists and turns will occur at the Aberdeen Ladies’ Scottish Open presented by EventScotland at Archerfield Links in East Lothian, from August 18-20. This is the final LET event before the 12-woman European team is confirmed following the publication of the weekly Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings on Monday 29th August.
The 2011 USA Solheim Cup Team will be announced a week earlier on Sunday 21st August at the Safeway Classic presented by Coca-Cola, August 19-21 at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in North Plains, Oregon, a month ahead of The Solheim Cup, which takes place from September 23-25.
