The Netherlands’ Dewi-Claire Schreefel shot a second-round 68 to take a one shot lead into today’s final round at the Suzhou Taihu Ladies Open in China at seven-under-par. Her compatriot Christel Boeljon was a shot back and Ireland’s Rebecca Coakley, also in the final group, started the day two shots off the pace at five-under-par.
Playing together in the penultimate group are Scots Kylie Walker and Vikki Laing along with little-known Narisara Kerdrit from Thailand. All of the top six players have a chance of claiming a first individual title on the Ladies European Tour.
Christel Boeljon won a team event early in 2009 partnering Marjet van der Graaff: the Comunitat Valenciana European Nations Cup in Spain, but is yet to win on her own.
Conditions are perfect for the final round of the tournament at Suzhou Taihu International Golf Club in the city of Suzhou, around an hour-and-a-half’s drive from Shanghai. In the morning, the sunshine burnt through the early haze and there was little wind.
In the third last group are South Korea’s Jeehae Lee and Australian Frances Bondad, both of whom also have a chance to claim a maiden LET victory, along with Australian Nikki Garrett, who won twice on tour in 2007, in Tenerife and mainland Spain.
