Australian Karen Lunn aced the 198-yard par-three ninth hole at Golfclub Broekpolder in her second round at the ABN AMRO Ladies Open, earning a spectacular Omega Constellation watch, worth approximately €6,000.
Lunn, an eight-time winner on the Ladies European Tour, said: “It was a perfect yardage for a six iron. I hit a really nice shot, a little draw, it landed a touch right of the pin, took a perfect bounce and I didn’t actually see it go in the hole because the pin was in the shade but obviously the reaction of the gallery told us it went in, so it was exciting.
“On Tour I think this is my first one in a proper event. I’ve had one on the ALPG Tour in one of the Pro Ams this year at the beginning of the year but I think this is the first one I’ve had in an official LET event. I’ve always wanted an Omega watch and I nearly bought one last year!”
It was the fourth hole-in-one on the Ladies European Tour this year, following aces by Hanna-Leena Salonen in Slovakia, Nathalie David-Mila in Morocco and Lisa Jean in Australia.
At the 151-yard par three 16th hole at Golfclub Broekpolder, there is another fantastic hole in one prize on offer: a BMW 335i Cabrio worth €68,500.
