Scotland’s Caithness attributed her round to her birdie streak on the front nine. ‘I went six under after nine holes and, at one stage, I was seven under, but then dropped two shots.
“It was nice to finish off with a birdie. Overall, I am pleased with my day’s efforts and thoroughly enjoyed the company of my playing partner (Ishu Rupani). When you are striking the ball and putting well, you always feel on top of your game. That was the case today.”
Among the notables, defending Omega Dubai Ladies Masters defending champion slipped down the leaderboard after shooting 74 for a 36-hole total of 144, just one shot ahead of Russia’s Maria Verchenova.
Meanwhile, the team of Krystle Caithness and Ishu Rupani won the second day’s Pro Am with a stunning score of a net 13-under-par 60, one shot ahead of the team of Julie Greciet and Carlos Sabugueiro.
Maria Verchenova and Drummond Welsh finished third on a net 62. The prizes were presented by Mohamed Juma Buamaim, vice-chairman and CEO of golf in DUBAi — the promoters and organisers of the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters.
