The UNIQA Ladies Golf Open presented by Raiffeisen returns to its home at Golfclub Föhrenwald in Wiener Neustadt, Austria, from September 10-13, where England’s Laura Davies will be aiming to claim the title for the third year running.
Davies, who won the Australian Open in February, is one of five members of Europe’s 2009 Solheim Cup team in the 126 player field, along with Frenchwoman Gwladys Nocera, Wales’ Becky Brewerton, Spain’s Tania Elosegui and Italian Diana Luna.
Nocera, Elosegui and Luna will return to action for the first time since The Solheim Cup at Rich Harvest Farms almost three weeks previously.
England’s Melissa Reid is also back in action for the first time since the S4/C Wales Ladies Championship of Europe following time out to recover from a wrist injury.
They will be joined by the inaugural 2005 event champion, Italian Federica Piovano, the 2009 HypoVereinsbank Ladies German Open champion Jade Schaeffer and Portugal Open winner Johanna Westerberg.
There are three full-time Austrian Ladies European Tour players competing: Nicole Gergely, Stefanie Michl and Eva Steinberger, who are all targeting first time victories.
Last year, the par-72 Golfclub Föhrenwald played at 6179 yards and Davies collected a first prize of €37,500 when she defeated compatriot Lisa Hall by a three stroke margin at 15-under-par.
Luna, who has won twice this year, in Ireland and Norway, finished third at 11-under-par, with Germany’s Denise Charlotte Becker a shot behind in fourth.
