(Tytherington, Cheshire – December 19, 2005) – Iben Tinning has added to her incredible list of achievements in 2005 by being voted as the Players’ Player of the Year on the Robe di Kappa Ladies European Tour.

Tinning’s victory in Italy

“Results wise, this has been my top year on the LET, but my biggest ever golf experience was without doubt when we won the Solheim Cup at Barsebäck in 2003,” she added.

Barsebäck was Tinning’s second Solheim appearance and her performances for Europe were exemplary, winning one and a half points including a vital 2&1 singles win over Wendy Ward en route to victory.

A fourth appearance in the matches will no doubt be on the agenda for 2007 when The Cup returns to Sweden, but before then there is the small matter of getting back to full fitness as Tinning is due to give birth in February.

“I’m feeling perfectly fine, obviously my tummy is getting bigger, but then again I only have nine weeks to go….I manage to get myself to the gym three times a week – and enjoy it although the speed has been slightly adjusted on the treadmill.

“I also take this as an opportunity to see friends and family as I imagine we’ll be quite tied up once the baby is born. In Denmark we celebrate on December 24, so we’re going to my parents for a traditional dinner of roast duck, roast pork with crackling, dancing round the Christmas tree and exchanging presents. This year our dog, Bello, has a cameo appearance as Santa,” Tinning added, laughing.

“At the moment, my plans are to start up in the third week of June to defend the Italian Open. All in all, I hope to play 11-12 tournaments but being a new mother, I’ll take it as it comes. I’d like to thank all the girls on LET for voting for me!

“Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year to you all!”
