(Sant Cugat, Barcelona October 3 2004) Karine Icher from France completed a wire-to-wire victory at the Catalonia Ladies Masters in incredible fashion with her second score of 62 in the tournament.

Blomqvist, who wrapped up the Ryder Cup Wales Rookie of the Year title, also carded a 62 en route to her maiden victory in Hungary in July.

“I was really focussed all day long and my putting was excellent all day,” added Icher. “It is the sort of course you can make a lot of birdies and I did that at the start of the round which made me feel a bit more relaxed.

“From the second to the 13th hole I was very concentrated and when I looked up at the leader board at the 14th, I think I was five shots clear so I began to relax and it was a great feeling to be able to walk down the last few holes with a big lead.”

Consolation for second placed Arricau, who won her first two titles earlier this year in Spain and in France, was winning the award for the LET Players’ Player of the Year.

“I am very happy with this award, it means a lot to me as it is awarded by my fellow players and to be recognised like this makes me proud,” said Arricau, who finished third on the Order of Merit behind Davies and Trish Johnson.

“I remember when Patricia Meunier Lebouc won her first major last year and that inspired me to work harder and I hope this will inspire other French women golfers to work hard and become successful in golf.”
