(Sant Cugat des Valles, Barcelona September 30 2004) The Robe di Kappa Ladies European Tour season comes to a close this week with the final event of its 2004 schedule at the €180,000 Catalonia Ladies Masters at Club de Golf Sant Cugat, the home club of former European number one Paula Marti.

Davies has already secured the place in the lucrative Samsung World Championship as she led the European rankings at the time of the organisers announced the field of 16 players.
But also at stake for the top three players in the final LET order of merit are exemptions for both the Kraft Nabisco Championship and the Women’s US Open, two of the four women’s major championships.
“This is a fun course to play and there’s quite a few driveable par fours on the course from what I can remember of last year in the match play event and that should make it pretty interesting,” said Davies on the eve of the event.
“It would be nice to take the top spot again, so I’ll have to keep my eyes on Trish all week. She needs to win this week to have a chance because if she finishes second, all I have to do is get it round to win enough points for her not to overtake me.”
Also to be decided this week is The Ryder Cup Wales Rookie of the Year award and three players are still in contention to pick up the prize for the best newcomer to the LET.
Leading the way is Minea Blomqvist, the 19-year-old from Finland who wowed the galleries at the Weetabix Women’s British Open in July when she fired a major championship record of ten under par 62 in the third round. Remarkably, it was the second round of 62 of her rookie year as she carded the same number two weeks previously en-route to winning her first Tour title, the OTP Bank Central European Open in Hungary.
