(Sydney, Australia March 3 2004) Concord Golf Club, in the leafy suburbs of Sydney, will provide a tough examination for the 156 competitors at this week’s $Aus550,000 AAMI Women’s Australian Open where some of the world’s top women players will battle it out for the Patricia Bridges trophy and the $Aus 73,500 first prize.

“It’s long and tricky and very narrow, too,” said McKay. “The greens are much, much faster than last week and to be honest, I like it a lot.”
Davies, who has yet to add this title to her 66 other international wins, was in a chipper mood at Tuesday evening’s sponsors dinner in Sydney’s Parliament House and in an interview with Channel 7’s Peter Donegan.
“The course sets up well for me, it’s a strong drivers course and there’s plenty of trouble, but what I like about it is that when you are in trouble, there is usually a chance to play a good shot out instead of having to chip out sideways.”
The favourites start the event in the early groups with Webb and Davies out at 8.20 alongside Kylie Pratt, sister of Australia’s number one female tennis player, Nicole.
Teske and McKay tee off at 8.30 with the current Australian women’s amateur champion Katy Jarochowicz.
