(Tenerife, May 4 2002) Spain’s Raquel Carriedo squandered two shots in the final three holes to fall back into a three way tie after three rounds of the Euro200,000 Tenerife Ladies Open at an almost unplayable Golf del Sur GC in the Canary Islands.

Sanchez, who finished third behind Carriedo at the 2001 Irish Open, was quick to inform her close friend that they would be playing together again and was in confident mood.
“Tomorrow, I am going for everything,” said Sanchez, whose best finish on Tour is tied for second at the Marie Claire Open in 1999.
“Before I used to go out and try my best but I know that is not enough. I have been close three times and that has made me change my attitude – now I am going out with the intention of winning.”
And with scores soaring over the last three days and with no let up in the howling wind off the Atlantic, Tournament Director Andy Lott will reduce the length of the course for the final round.
“We were very close to calling the round off at one point today,” said Lott. “But unless the ball is rolling on the green and not just oscillating, play must continue.
“They would score exceptionally well around here if there was no wind, I have to give the girls credit just for teeing it up in such tough conditions and these scores belie the skill they have.
“If the greens had been up to Tournament pace, we would have been gone, probably yesterday. We normally have our greens running at ten on the stimp-meter, but this week the greens are a bit slower and play is still possible, although extremely difficult for everyone.”
With gale force winds predicted yet again in the final round, no lead will be safe and with fourteen players within six shots, anything can happen on what is bound to be an unpredictable final day.
