Can you talk us through your final round?

It was a very, very long day and it was a tough start. I was three over after nine, hit a couple of drives and hit it into the water on the second; I don’t know how that’s possible but I did it. On the back nine I played some of my best golf ever so I can’t complain.

Did you feel any pressure playing with Laura?

No. Laura is so relaxed. It is just fun to play with her. I said to Petter when we were going to the first playoff hole, an hour ago we were six behind. How is this possible?

In golf everything can happen.

You played the same second shot at the 18th hole into the bunker three times. How come?

I did it on purpose because if you put the ball in the right side of that bunker it’s a pretty easy shot. I was aiming just a little left of the flag and faded it into the bunker.

What happened when you missed a short putt at the 17th?

I think that maybe we misread it because I felt I hit it well but it went a little bit to the right.

How were your emotions throughout the day?

I was feeling most nervous on the first. It was not like I was very nervous. When you’re playing with Laura she makes you feel very comfortable and relaxed. This week I just tried to have fun on every shot every round. I think I did a good job there and so I just thought about it and said, “I’m lucky.” I just feel that I’m putting too much pressure on myself sometimes and it’s important to take that out. It is supposed to be fun.

You were struggling in the USA. Why?

I was playing the first stage qualifying over there for the LPGA and I was struggling. I didn’t hit the ball well and I didn’t putt well. It was a hard time. I made it through but I didn’t play great so it was very nice for me to come back here and shoot some low scores again.

Will you return to the USA?

The final stage is in December. Hopefully I can play some in the States and some in Europe because this is home.

Isn’t it strange that the Norwegian players are so strong?

There are not too many lady golfers in Norway. It’s me and Suzann Pettersen. We had another one and she just quit (Lill Kristin Saether). So I always had Suzann to look up to and she has done great. She has been number two on the world ranking and so I thought if she can do it then so can I.

Is there a rivalry between you and Suzann?

Actually we don’t speak much because she is living in the States and I’m loving in Europe. We used to talk a little bit but we don’t that much anymore. I think we grew apart. She’s doing her thing and I’m doing my thing. We are both very, very busy.

Was there an element of luck?

Compared to Switzerland I wasn’t nervous at all. When I won in Switzerland I was very nervous on the first and the last hole but today I wasn’t nervous. I don’t know why but I was just trying to do my best, be patient and have fun. Of course I was a bit angry after nine when I was three over.

How do you feel now?

I’m very relieved and happy; looking forward to going to bed. I’m tired. This has been a great week. The place here is amazing and I’m really looking to coming back next year.

When did you think you could do it?

When I holed my putt in regulation. After I holed it, Petter said, “If Laura misses her putt there’s a playoff.” I said, “No, I don’t think so. I think I am still one behind.” He said, “I don’t think so.” I didn’t have clue. I really never thought about it because when we were on the tenth I was six behind. I tried and tried but it’s hard to believe that you’re going to beat her because she is Laura Davies.

Do you think she made a mistake because she didn’t think she could lose?

No, I don’t think so. That’s a very stupid thing to do in golf. I don’t think she did that.

What part of your game are you most pleased about?

On the second and the seventh I saved good bogeys which could have been double bogeys and the putt on 18 of course.

Tell us about yourself.

I started to play golf when I was four because my parents played and my sister Carolina played. I got my LET card in 2005 and then I didn’t play well enough so I lost it for two years and then I played on the Telia Tour in Sweden. Then after winning the ranking in Sweden I was back here last year and this year.

What are your hobbies?

I like sports. I love my sister’s dog and I’m spending a lot of time with her. I’m watching a lot of tennis. My favourite player in Roger Federer. My love is caddying for me, so he is always there.

Did you have a successful amateur career?

My amateur career wasn’t the best but it was good. I played in the PING Junior Solheim Cup. I was in the Norwegian national team and I never ever loved school so I figured I had to do something else. My mum didn’t like it when I turned pro. I turned pro when I was 18 and she thought it was way too early. Maybe it was. There were some tough years after I turned pro but I’ve been working hard and it’s good.

What did you learn about yourself?

I learned that I never give up. I’m trying and trying and trying and trying to the last putt and that’s why I won today.
