Annika Sorenstam Tweeted on Monday (21st March) that she has given birth to a boy earlier than expected.
The 2011 European Solheim Cup Vice-Captain announced the birth about an hour after the baby was born. She said in her tweet, “SURPRISE! I went into labor today & William Nicholas McGee was born at 6:33 PM. I’m well. Will is hanging in there fine for being 27 weeks.”
Sorenstam and her husband, Mike McGee, already have a daughter they named Ava, born 1st September 2009.
The Swede retired from competitive play at the end of the 2008 season with 89 career victories including 10 major championships. She represented Europe on its Solheim Cup team eight times, in 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2007.
