Carly Booth and Olafia Kristinsdottir went on an Aboriginal culture tour with a difference as they travelled to Moonee Beach reserve on the Coffs Coast with Wajaana Yaam Gumbaynggirr Adventure Tours.

The players learned to paddle board with Australian Olympian Ky Hurst at one of Australia’s best beaches, heard some original stories from their guides Clark Webb and Shane Singleton and tried some bush tucker ahead of the inaugural Australian Ladies Classic Bonville.

Booth said: “I did a bit of paddle boarding today for the first time, which was a great experience and learned a little bit about Aboriginal culture and plants, how they eat and make their own food and how to use an Aloe Vera type plant to cure a mosquito bite, so it was very productive and educational.”

Kristinsdottir said: “We had the honour of being guided by a native speaker and we got to hear the language and we tried some flowers and leaves. It was great to paddle board, as I had never done it before and I was the first and only one to fall. It was fun, even though sometimes we were going backwards!”

The players then returned to Bonville Golf Resort for the tournament, which gets under way from Thursday in Bonville, New South Wales.
