(Rich Harvest Farms, Sugar Grove, Illinois – 22nd August 2009) — Team Europe led Saturday’s four-balls 2 ½ -1 ½ to tie at 6-6 overall with the United States heading into the afternoon foursomes.
Despite a strong start, Helen Alfredsson and Tania Elosegui were defeated 5&4 by Christina Kim and Michelle Wie in the first match of the day and the ninth of the tournament.
Catriona Matthew and Diana Luna secured a vital half point when Luna holed a long putt at the 18th.
In the third match, Suzann Pettersen and Anna Nordqvist beat Nicole Castrale and Cristie Kerr 1 up. Meanwhile Gwladys Nocera and Maria Hjorth defeated Brittany Lincicome and Kristy McPherson 1 up after a breathtaking end to the morning session.
