England’s Felicity Johnson took out the Seasons Aged Care Brisbane Invitational at McLeod Country Golf Club on the ALPG Tour after a thrilling four-way play-off victory, defeating Australian Breanna Gill, Belgian Manon De Roey and New Zealand’s Hanee Song.
All four players had signed for two-under-par rounds of 72 in the tough windy conditions, and it was back to the picturesque 18th hole at McLeod Country Golf Club for a sudden death playoff.
On the first playoff hole Song and Gill both made bogeys leaving De Roey and Johnson to head back to the 18th tee again in near darkness.
On the second playoff hole Johnson bravely holed for par from three metres after coming up short of the green, leaving De Roey a putt from just outside a metre to force the playoff into a third hole. De Roey’s putt agonisingly slid past the left edge leaving Johnson to celebrate her second ALPG win.
Just one shot out of the play-off in 5th place were Kiwi Jenna Hunter and South Australian Stephanie Na who both shot one-under-par rounds of 73.
Johnson was also the winner of the McYamba Cup and the $5000 bonus which is awarded to the player who wins the most prizemoney across the BWAC Regional Employment Services and this event.
The ALPG Tour headed down the M1 to Links Hope Island for the final event of the 2018 Club Car Series, the inaugural Qantas Golf Club Gold Coast Challenge which will be held on 12th and 13th March.
