The strongest Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open field in history is set, with four official tournament invites awarded today to seven-time Major champion, Karrie Webb, Solheim Cup legend, Paula Creamer, Japanese star Mika Miyazato and home-favourite Scotland’s Vikki Laing ahead of this year’s Championship at Gullane Golf Club from 26 – 29 July.
Karrie Webb, a 41-time LPGA Tour winner and Hall of Famer, is making her third Ladies Scottish Open appearance, having narrowly missed out on victory last year, finishing T2 behind Mi Hyang Lee.
Joining her in the line-up which includes a record-breaking three of the world’s top five and 10 of the top 15 is three-time worldwide winner, Mika Miyazato, and former U.S Women’s Open champion and Solheim Cup Legend, Paula Creamer.
Scotland’s Vikki Laing, who is making her eighth appearance in the tournament, with her best finish coming in 2010 (5th) is still in search of her maiden Ladies European Tour title but has 13 career top ten finishes to her name.
The four official invites are part of an elite list of 16 Major champions already confirmed in the 156-stong player field including the last five current Major champions and former World No. 1’s, Lydia Ko, Sung Hyun Park, Ariya Jutanugarn and So Yeon Ryu.
For only the second year, the tournament is co-sanctioned between the Ladies European Tour and the LPGA with an illustrious list of more than 75 champions with more than 550 titles set to compete at Gullane Golf Club, which played host to the Aberdeen Standard Investments Men’s Scottish Open last week.
Commenting on the invite, Karrie Webb, said, “I’m extremely grateful to Aberdeen Standard Investments and VisitScotland for the opportunity to play in such a prestigious event and I enjoyed every minute of last year. It was exciting to be back in contention to win and hopefully I can go one better at Gullane Golf Club”.
Speaking ahead of her eighth appearance, Vikki Laing, said, “It’s always exciting to play in front of a home crowd as it gives you that extra boost during the round if things aren’t going your way. I can’t thank Aberdeen Standard Investments and VisitScotland enough for the opportunity to play in this world-class event.”

Taking place the week before the Ricoh Women’s British Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes, the Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open will kick off a superb two weeks of women’s links golf in the UK. The back-to-back stretch of events echoes the successful strategy employed by the Men’s Scottish Open taking place the week before The Open – an approach proven to be a competitive advantage for those players competing in both Championships. The Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open is also a key element of Scotland’s commitments to the staging of The 2019 Solheim Cup at Gleneagles.
