(MADRID – Thursday 1st October 2009) — The first round of the Madrid Ladies Masters is underway at Club de Golf Retamares, where the skies are brightening up after an overcast but warm morning.
Sweden’s Emma Zackrisson (pictured) teed off first at 10.30am and took the early lead before being eclipsed by several other players. Spain’s own Tania Elosegui and Beatriz Recari, both of whom have already won this year, tee off at 1.21pm and 1.30pm local time, respectively. Elosegui is playing with Sweden’s Anna Nordqvist and Recari is playing alongside Melissa Reid from England in the last group.
There are 42 players in the exclusive field, including 40 professionals and two amateurs. There is no cut and the winner, to be decided on Saturday, will take home €50,000. Please see live scoring throughout the day.
