The twins, who own houses in Champions Gate, Florida, enjoyed switching identities for fun as teenagers. They are even more alike now that they both wear matching golf hats and carry bags by Ian Poulter Design. Johanna’s husband Terry Mundy caddies for Poulter and the twins are planning to model the women’s clothing line when it is launched in Autumn next year, which will make them even more indistinguishable on the golf course.
When it comes to preparation for this week’s golf tournament however, they are different. Samantha had the chance to warm up at last week’s Hassan Trophy in Morocco, where she finished in sixth position, while Johanna returns from a three week break from competitive golf.
“I last played three weeks ago in Hawaii. I had two whole weeks off golf and then I spent all last week practising,” said Johanna, adding: “I feel I have a good chance and I’m excited about playing.”
Samantha added: “I haven’t practised that much in England because obviously the weather is dreadful. Having a week in Morocco when it was warm was great and now I feel ready to go.”
The twins will face a strong field in Korea headed by the current Ladies European Tour number one Gwladys Nocera of France, who has won five times this year, and South Korea’s own Amy Yang, who has won twice in 2008. In addition they face a plethora of Korean stars from the KLPGA in the co-sanctioned tournament. They include Hee-Kyung Seo, who is second on the KLPGA Money List, third ranked Ha-Neul Kim, fourth ranked Hye-Yong Choi and fifth Sun Ju Ahn.
