Carly Booth and Tano Goya during the first round

Scotland’s Carly Booth had her first hole-in-one in a tournament during the first round of the Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open on Thursday.

The recent Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open champion aced the par-three 11th at Golf Gerre Losone in Ticino using a nine-iron. The ball pitched a metre behind the flag and span back into the hole.

“It’s my first in a tournament but I think I had one when I was a lot younger,” said 19-year-old Booth, who opened with a round of two under par 70 to lie six shots off the pace, set by Australian Rebecca Artis, who shot a career low 64.

Booth, who tied for seventh place last week in Slovakia, has her boyfriend, the European Tour professional Estanislao (Tano) Goya, caddying for her at the tournament.

The 24-year-old Argentinean, claimed his sole European Tour victory at the Madeira Islands Open in 2009.
