“It was an extremely difficult decision to choose from three excellent golf courses, all of which would have provided the perfect venue for an event of this magnitude,” said Ian Randell, chief executive of the Robe di Kappa Ladies European Tour.
“Building upon the successes of Barsebäck Golf & Country Club in 2003, we are delighted to be able to visit another of the finest courses in Sweden in 2007. We have had excellent support from the local communities in each proposal, but the fact that the town of Halmstad will be celebrating their 700th anniversary added further strength to their bid.”
Bengt Ekberg, Chairman of the Halmstad City Council was delighted to add: “Halmstad Municipality in cooperation with Halmstad Golf Club are proud to announce the hosting of The Solheim Cup 2007. This is a very eventful time for Halmstad considering that The Solheim Cup 2007 will take place during the city’s 700 year celebration.”
Stefan Ågren, President of Halmstad Golf Club continued: “We are very honoured and happy to be chosen as the venue for the 2007 Solheim Cup. I am convinced that everyone at Halmstad Golf Club will do their utmost to make the 2007 Solheim Cup a huge success…Welcome!”
