Connie Chen of South Africa also plays off +4, while Lucie André of France, with a handicap of +3.8, is one of her nation’s great hopes. She was the leading amateur on the Generali Tour this year, which forms part of the LET Access Series.
Benedicte Toumpson of Belgium is another player to watch with a handicap of +3.2 as well as the Netherlands’ Marieke Nivard and Germany’s Stephanie Kirchmayr, who holds a handicap of +3. Curtis Cup players Danielle McVeigh of Northern Ireland (handicap +2.9) and England’s Hannah Barwood (+2.7) are also in the field hoping to make the move to the paid ranks next season.
Notable professionals competing for their Ladies European Tour cards include Maria Verchenova and Anastastia Kostina, who have represented Russia at the Comunitat Valenciana European Nations Cup, as well as their compatriots Vera Shimanskaya, the former Olympic gold medallist in Rhythmic Gymnastics and Galina Rotmistrova, sister of former LET player Ouliana.
Thai stars Russamee Gulyanamitta and Nontaya Srisawang are in the field along with a number of current LET players including Scotland’s Clare Queen, Germany’s Denise-Charlotte Becker and Denmark’s Monica V.Christiansen, who are all hoping to re-qualify.
Final Qualifying will be a five-round examination at La Manga Club from Wednesday 15th to Sunday 19th December, with a cut to the top 50 players and ties after four rounds.
The leading 30 players at the Final Stage who survive the most intense pressure will earn Category 8a Membership of the Ladies European Tour for the following season.
Players finishing in positions 31 to 50 and ties will be ranked according to score and will be eligible for LET Membership in Category 9b with limited starts while players who fail to make the 72 hole cut may take Membership in Category 11a.
