(Playa de Las Americas, May 1 2003) Nienke Nijenhuis from The Netherlands battled her golfing demons and carded the lowest round of her two-year career to take a one shot lead after the opening round of the €200,000 Tenerife Ladies Open at Golf Las Americas, the first European-based event on the Evian Ladies European Tour.

Dibnah, at 40, is a 19-year veteran of the Tour with 13 wins to her credit and after purchasing a new belly putter, she has found the link that has been missing from her naturally talented game since her last win in 1994.
“It’s just great to be able to hole some putts again,” said Dibnah, who just days before she flew back to Europe, carded an eight under 64 at her home course in Queensland.
“The putter has given me so much more confidence on the greens and I’m looking forward to having a great season.” Forster couldn’t believe the way her day turned out after spending the entire winter managing Herne Bay Golf Club and giving lessons for six and a half days a week. Seven birdies and three bogies was not a bad way to spend a day on the course.
“I’ve hardly touched a club since last season,” giggled Forster, a comely 26-year-old from Margate.
