The work wasn’t yet done for the professional golfers after the third round of the European Nations Cup on Saturday.

After they had signed their scorecards they headed out onto the nine-hole golf course at La Sella Resort to caddie for their respective bagmen and women.

It wasn’t too tough a job, since many of the caddies in the event are professional golfers themselves, like Jo Pritchard for example, who swapped roles with Lydia Hall, for whom she is caddying in the 18-nation team event.

There was a good showing for team Wales since Becky Brewerton was out carrying the bag for her regular Tour caddie Shane Codd, who is a professional golfer himself. He is married to Ireland’s Rebecca Codd, who was caddying for Steve Walsh.

European Solheim Cup Captain Alison Nicholas, who retired from the Ladies European Tour in 2004, donned her spikes again and was assisted by Anna Nordqvist, who was caddying for three players in her group: she and Gustafson’s caddies and Nicholas. Dewi-Claire Schreefel also made the effort to carry her heavy Tour bag in a role swap.

As usual, it was a family affair for the Lagoutte-Clements, but with Virginie caddying for her husband Sébastien, who is a pro golfer. Their three-year-old daughter Victoria guarded the buggy but took a few swings and looks set to be a fine golfer herself.

Playing in the same group, Iben Tinning caddied for her husband Lasse while Malene Jorgensen carried the bag for her boyfriend and Caroline Masson swapped roles with Martin Ridley, who is also a professional golfer.

After the event there was a poolside barbecue in the evening sunshine with a live band, sponsored by Estrella de Levante (beer).
