The Women’s Professional Golf Association (WPGA) and Ladies European Tour (LET) celebrated another chapter in their longstanding relationship when this year’s South African Women’s Open teed off at Southbroom Golf Club on Friday.

“We are really happy to be back in South Africa, and the return to the schedule and subsequent growth of the South African Women’s Open is a testament to the great abilities of South Africa and the strong relationship we have with the WPGA,” said Ivan Khodabakhsh, CEO of the LET.

Lesley Copeman of World Sports Promotions, the promoter of the SA Women’s Open, also expressed her delight at the continued relationship with the LET.

“The LET has always been a fantastic partner to work with. We have a long history of their involvement in South African golf. They bring a truly international field to our South African Women’s Open, and we are looking forward to an even stronger future with them.”

Khodabakhsh intimated that this future could include further tournaments co-sanctioned by the WPGA and LET.

“We’re discussing future tournaments in South Africa. We have wonderful South African players on our tour, and we’re looking forward to the possibility of more tournaments here in the future.”
