Saturday’s play in the UL International Crown has been completely abandoned for the day for safety reasons following the aftermath of the tropical storm which passed through the area in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Anticipating the dangerous conditions officials had already moved round 3 to Friday afternoon although bad light forced play to be suspended late on Friday.
An official statement from the LPGA said the Jack Nicklaus course had held up well after 2½ inches of rain and that some clean-up was required after high winds. With winds expected to strengthen to gusts of over 30mph the decision was taken to resume the 3rd round at 7.05am on Sunday morning.
Countries in third place behind the top two who automatically advance to Sunday’s singles will compete in a sudden-death wild-card play-off. Each team will nominate two players for the playoff.
The final group (England v South Korea) in the 3rd round is currently on the 7th hole.
