(Evian-les-Bains, France, June 14 2002) World number one Annika Sorenstam left the rest of the world’s best women golfers in her wake after firing an impeccable third round seven under par 65 to open a four shot lead heading into the final round of the $2.1million Evian Masters.
On yet another glorious day of unbroken sunshine by the picturesque banks of Lake Geneva, the 31-year-old Swede sits at 16-under par and leads nearest challenger Korean Mi Hyun Kim, who returned a five birdie, one bogey 68.
Pak – comeback specialist |
Pak, who has won five times in her career after coming from behind during the final round, was till positive about facing the World number one tomorrow, but knows she will need perhaps another course record equalling 64 to beat the Swede.
“Last week, I was four behind and then – ,” said Pak, who snatched the MacDonald’s Championship from veteran Beth Daniel.
“Annika will probably shoot a low number again, I have to shoot lower than her and play a little bit better than today, she played very well and is a very consistent player.”
