(Arras, France, June 20 2002) Karen Lunn from Australia and England’s Kirsty Taylor fired four under par 68’s to share the lead after the first round of the €275,000 Open de France Dames at Golf d’Arras in Northern France.
New Zealand’s Lynnette Brooky took full advantage of a relaxed evening wine shopping with Lunn yesterday, uncorking a three under 69 to share third place with Spain’s Paula Marti, Australian Joanne Mills and Stephanie Arricau from France.
European number one Raquel Carriedo racked up a double bogey six on her final hole for a two under par 70 and shares seventh place alongside Swedes Pernilla Sterner and Nina Karlsson, England’s Nicola Moult, Esther Poburski from Germany and local favourite Karine Icher from France.

“It makes a change, I didn’t hole any last week,” said the 31-year-old from Lancashire, who finished tied for 11th at the Evian Masters.
“This season, I’ve been playing consistently, hitting a lot of fairways and greens, but it’s been the putting that’s held me back.”
And despite being reminded that she is still yet to win a Tour event, Taylor’s dry sense of humour was apparent in her riposte to the press, who asked her what more she needed to do to win.
“To ignore people who keep telling me about it!” she grinned.
And England’s Lora Fairclough had to withdraw from the event after six holes with a shoulder injury.
