Thailand’s Thidapa Suwannapura, the 2013 Hero Women’s Indian Open champion, made a fast start at the Estrella Damm Mediterranean Ladies Open in beautiful conditions at Club de Golf Terramar on Thursday morning.
She birdied her opening two holes, the ninth and 10th, followed by the 12th, 13th and 16th to reach five-under-par.
The 25-year-old seventh year professional lies two ahead of amateur Selin Hyun, 17, from the Republic of Korea, who finished as the runner-up in the Ladies European Thailand Championship in July, a stroke behind Kanyalak Preedasutjit. This is her third event following a missed cut at the Vic Open.
Anne Van Dam and Amelia Lewis are also in the mix on three-under-par.
