The third round of the Evian Masters, presented by Société Générale, is underway in bright sunshine at Evian Masters Golf Club in Evian-les-Bains, France.
The 2008 Henderson Money List winner, Gwladys Nocera, leads the Ladies European Tour charge at eight under par and sits in second place a stroke behind Japan’s Mika Miyazato.
The 35-year-old Nocera tops the list of the 19 Ladies European Tour members who made the halfway cut on Friday evening and was clearly the favourite with the galleries, receiving great cheers from spectators in the grandstand by the 18th green as she completed her second round.
Tied for 13th place after a 69 on Thursday, Nocera advanced 12 spots up the leader board with her 67, which included an outstanding bogey-free front nine of 33, coming back in 34.
She is playing at the tournament for the sixth successive year following a previous best tie for 41st in 2006 and is setting out in pursuit of her 11th victory on the LET, having earned her last victory at the Madrid Ladies Masters in 2008.
Norwegian Suzann Pettersen, a contender in the race to become No.1 on the Rolex Rankings, is the next best placed European in a share of eighth place after two rounds on five under par, with Germany’s Anja Monke in a share of 16th at three under after her opening hole today.
LET rookie Azahara Munoz from Spain was a stroke back on two under after 13 holes today and tied with the 2009 champion Ai Miyazato after three holes today.
LET rookie Mariajo Uribe of Colombia moved to one under par in total after a round of 68 this morning.
She recorded her first hole in one as a professional at the 161-yard par-three second hole with a 52 degree wedge but revealed that it was her fourth hole-in-one in total. Unfortunately there was no prize for an ace at the second but a Peugeot car is on offer at the 17th hole.
