(Castellón, Spain – May 13 2005) Denmark’s Iben Tinning carded a blistering career best nine-under-par 63 to break the course record and take the outright lead after the second round of the € 275,000 Open de España Femenino Castellón at Panorámica Golf & Country Club.

A further five players are at six-under-par. They are Swedes Asa Gottmo and Linda Wessberg, Spaniard Maria Beautell, Rebecca Hudson from England and Federica Piovano from Italy.

But it was the two-time Solheim Cup player, Tinning, who made her intentions clear out on the Langer designed course near St Jorge.

“I can’t remember the course, because it all looked the same,” said Tinning as she walked off the course.

“My longest putt was on 17, from about five metres. All the others were about two metres in length.

“I’m definitely hungry for a win. It has been a few years now and I want to win every week so I will try to do my best over the weekend.

“With golf, anything can happen. You can shoot another 63 or have a 79. You’ve just got to concentrate and try to do your best.

A win this week could see her dramatically climb up into The Solheim Cup automatic qualification rankings.

“I played in the most fantastic Solheim Cup and nothing’s going to beat that but I would definitely love to beat the Americans over in the USA.”

“But I didn’t like America. It was far away from home, I didn’t like the food or the culture,” she admitted.

“I’m not going to play over there this year at all unless I make the Solheim Cup team, but I played in the most fantastic Solheim Cup in Sweden and nothing’s going to beat that anyway.”

Sandolo credited her recently deceased coach for this season’s spectacular rise in form.

Her coach, Michel Dameano, was the inspiration that helped Sandolo through the closed season in the South of France, but passed away a month ago from leukaemia. Sandolo has now employed his brother, Roger.

“He kept me very positive mentally and had such a good way of teaching,” said Sandolo.

“He was a technical coach but his methods were very old fashioned and he didn’t use a camera or anything like that.

“I feel this year that I’m growing psychologically stronger. I’m calm, relaxed, and whatever happens just happens.”

The cut fell at even par.
