(Salamanca, Spain, May 29 2002) Denmark’s Iben Tinning returns to the Evian Ladies European Tour after a week long break in a bid to become the first player since Marie Laure de Lorenzi in 1989 to win three consecutive ranking events at this weeks €250,000 Caja Duero Open de Espaňa at Salamanca GC.
After her win at the Irish Open three weeks ago, the 28-year-old from Copenhagen became the first Danish winner on Tour, and when she held off Italian Silvia Cavalleri in the final round of the La Perla Italian Open, Tinning became the first back to back winner since Sandrine Mendiburu in 1999.

“We haven’t had a Tour event in Spain for so long and it’s great to be here at last. It’s home, they are my people, home food, my own language and it’s a great set up here,” said the 21-year-old from Barcelona, who won twice in her rookie year last season.
“It’s been so good for Spanish women’s golf over the last year and to finally have an event is fantastic. While I’m not thinking about winning right now, It would definitely be a big dream of mine to win here.”
€37,500 and 40 valuable Solheim Cup points await the winner on Sunday, and with the Tour’s flagship Evian Masters in two weeks time, those players who are not already exempt for the £2 million event will be playing for the added bonus of a spot in the field of the second richest event in Women’s golf.
