Playing golf in one of the most famous football stadiums in the world? No problem! Allianz and Golf Club St. Leon-Rot made it possible. Last weekend the Munich Allianz Arena was transformed into a golf course. 33 lucky winners of a Facebook campaign experienced a fantastic weekend in Munich.

First they visited the Bundesliga game FC Bayern Munich against VfB Stuttgart’s, a day later the winners went onto the pitch themselves, to play golf. Three teams with eleven players each competed to find the Golf Champion of the Allianz Arena. Teeing off from the middle stands, pitching from the penalty spot, chipping in the goal, bunker shots in the penalty box, putting in the team changing room of Bayern Munich and a quiz in the press conference room were on the schedule of the day. A separate longest drive contest from the corner flag also took place. This event was held linking to the upcoming Solheim Cup 2015, which will be held in Golf Club St. Leon-Rot. That is why all teams were giving appropriate names to fit the occasion and were supported by professional team mates.

Team Europe was captained by Carin Koch, who will captain the European Team during the Solheim Cup next year. Team USA was guided by the ex- LET Tour player Martina Eberl-Ellis and the German Team was supported by tournament professional Moritz Lampert from Golf Club St. Leon-Rot. The results could not have been any better, because Carin Koch’s team won the team competition, a good omen for the Solheim Cup next year!
