Having pushed herself hard all year, her body told her to slow down when she experienced severe nose bleeds at the Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco and at the Saint Four Ladies Masters in Korea in November. Happily, nothing was too serious.
“I have done some checking for my nose bleeds and nothing is wrong. I guess I was tired from this long season and needed some rest. So, after taking a few days off I went back to a lot of physical preparation, and now I’m back on track. It feels really good to hit the ball again!” Nocera said.
Having practically realised her dream of becoming the second French player to be crowned European No. 1 (after Marie-Laure de Lorenzi in 1988 and ’89), Nocera is keen to enjoy the celebrations in Dubai.
“It might be Annika’s last tournament with us, so I want to enjoy each minute and hopefully have a chat with her to tell her how much she helped all of us,” Nocera said.
After Dubai she will plan for next year. “I will put everything on the table after Dubai and talk with my coach. We will look at the schedule here and in the US and see how we will organise the season. There are a lot of things that I haven’t yet achieved so there is still a lot of work to be done.”
