Sweden’s Linnea Ström stormed into the lead at Lalla Aicha Tour School Pre-Qualifier B after firing a stunning third round 62 (-10) at Amelkis Golf Club in Marrakesh, Morocco.

The 22-year-old from Hovas carded 11 birdies and one bogey, at the par-3 17th, to sit at 19-under-par and open up a seven stroke lead over Ireland’s Leona Maguire heading into the final day. Overnight leader Nadine Dreher from Austria lies in third place, with India’s Diksha Dagar and Finland’s Niina Liias tied for fourth.

The top 38 players and ties following Monday’s final round will progress to the Final Stage.

Ström’s 62 was the best ever round at Amelkis Golf Club and matched the lowest round recorded in seven years of Lalla Aicha Tour School, set by India’s Aditi Ashok in the third round of the Final Stage at Samanah Golf Club in Marrakesh in December 2015. Ashok went on to record a winning 90-hole score of 23-under-par, with two rounds of five also played at Amelkis Golf Club that year.

Ström has an exceptional golfing resumé. She first picked up a golf club aged five and became a member of the Swedish Golf Team at age 13.She won the EGA’s European Girls’ Team Championship in 2012 and 2013; was a member of the 2013 PING Junior Solheim Cup Team and the European Junior Ryder Cup Team 2014 and 2016, and she won the mixed gold at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games together with Marcus Kinhult. She also won the 2014 Spanish International Amateur Championship and was runner-up at the 2015 British Ladies Amateur Golf Championship. She attended Arizona State University and turned professional in March 2018. She picked up her first professional win on the Symetra Tour at the Sioux Falls GreatLIFE Challenge in September.
