The R&A – Working for Golf

The R&A is a long-term supporter of the Ladies European Tour (LET) and the LET flies an R&A – Working for Golf flag at tournaments. Since 1994, The R&A has provided funding for the Tour on an annual basis, with the contribution increasing year on year. The R&A also provides referees at several golf tournaments and LET Rules Officials attend The R&A’s Referees School at St Andrews. A number of Ladies European Tour members have completed the three-tier Rules education programme run by The R&A at the LET headquarters at Buckinghamshire Golf Club.
Each year, The R&A distributes a substantial sum of roughly five million pounds to deserving causes from grassroots initiatives, through coaching and regional championships, to professional tours all over the world.
Formed in 2004. and based in St Andrews, The R&A seeks to engage in and support activities that are undertaken for the benefit of the game of golf. It takes its name from The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, the members’ club that, before 2004, had responsibility for the game but from which The R&A is now separate and distinct.
