The Ladies European Tour, THAI LPGA, Phoenix Gold Golf & Country Club together with Khon Rak Golf Co.,Ltd. and Wangson Image Co.,Ltd., supported by the Sports Authority of Thailand and National Sports Development Fund, announced that the second edition of the Ladies European Thailand Championship will be held on 21-24 June 2018, at Phoenix Gold Golf & Country Club, Pattaya in Chonburi with the total purse money of 300,000 Euro (appx. 12 million Baht).

The inaugural tournament created global headlines when Thai prodigy Atthaya Thitikul became the youngest ever winner on the tour aged 14 years, four months and 19 days, in July 2017.

Ladies European Tour Chairman, Mr. Mark Lichtenhein stated: “We are delighted to be returning to Phoenix Gold Golf & Country Club after the incredible drama of Atthaya’s victory last year and it was fantastic to see her go on to secure another dramatic victory in the inaugural Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Golf Championship in February. I am sure this is a strong omen for the relationship between the Ladies European Tour and women’s golf in Thailand.”

LET Tournament Director Mr. Joao Paulo Pinto added: “I believe we made a big step in launching the Ladies European Thailand Championship in 2017 and I am looking forward to another fantastic week in Pattaya. After a tremendous sporting success story last year, we are all looking forward to the next exciting chapter.”

Chonburi is the province to host the tournament by its high potential in sport organising. Mr. Chaicharn Aeimjaroen – Chonburi’s Vice Governor mentioned that: “it is our pleasure to host the international sport event such this famous golf tournament. Chonburi has high potential in tourism and sport organizing because of its facilities since attractions, accommodations and foods. We hope that this tournament will get the most success and make Chonburi become international sport hub province of Thailand.”

On behalf of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), Mr. Theerawat Sinlapa-archa – Director of Professional Sports Promotion and Development Division stated: “the Sports Authority of Thailand and National Sports Development Fund are very delightful in supporting Ladies European Thailand Championship 2018, which is the 2nd edition. SAT is still aiming to give support to all kind of sports in order to grow the sports development in Thailand, as well as to encourage Thai athletes to be known more in international stage. This is to make Thailand as the sport hub of the region. We hope that this tournament will archive the highest goals as same as last year.”

Phoenix Gold Golf & Country Club, the magnificent golf course in Pattaya with its beautiful scenery surroundings, host venue where the tournament take place. Mrs. Chanya Swangchitr – President expressed: “Phoenix Gold Golf & Country Club, as the host venue of Ladies European Thailand Championship 2018, is very pleased to host this tournament again and also to welcome ladies players from all over the world to our golf course. I wish that in this year the tournament would make the remarkable history for world golf again since last year ‘Atthaya Thitikul’ created the new world record as the world youngest champion won professional golf tournament and this golf course is one of that world history. As always, we prepare our course to challenge the world class ladies players and our facilities are ready to all officers and spectators, for the purpose of pushing forward international sport event in Pattaya and Thailand to strengthen the sport tourism.”

Ms. Atiporn Prateepmongkon, Vice President of THAI LPGA – one of the sanctioning bodies of the tournament said: “We are pleased to be one of the sanctioning bodies together with Ladies European Tour which is the world ladies golf tour to set off the tournament and create the world class stage in our home country to offer our members opportunity to exchange their experience with international players to raise up their skill. We all know that the organising such international golf tournament is not simple, and we hope that this tournament will be carried on itself year after year to firm Thailand golf.”

Khon Rak Golf Co.,Ltd. by General Chatri Changrien, representative of the promoter stated: “We are proud to be the part of Ladies European Thailand Championship – the significant golf tournament and organise this tournament in 2 consecutive years. In 2018, we have our affiliated company, Wangson Image, to help together in raising up Thailand golf, and also AMG which has golf organising experience. I wish that the sections will be fulfilled and make the entire tournament perfect.

Similar to last year, the field of 126 competitors will include 70 LET Members, 40 Thai LPGA Members and 16 invitation spots, playing for a 300,000 Euro purse (appx. 12 million Baht) and Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking Points.

LIVE TV Broadcasting will be on True Sport HD 3 on True Visions during 13:00-16:00hrs on Saturday, 23 and Sunday, 24 June. Admission tickets for spectators are available at the Ticket Booth near the public entrance to the golf club at 100THB/person/day on 21-24 June. Free admission for spectator age under 18 and over 60 years old. Gate opening is at 08:00hrs daily.
