(Aroeira, Portugal, May 26 2002) Japan’s Kanna Takanashi made it third time lucky at Aroeira GC when she birdied the final hole to complete a two under par 70 for a five under total to win the Euro70,000 Ladies Open of Costa Azul outside Lisbon.

Takanashi, who earned her conditional Tour card at the second time of asking last October at Aroeira, had a rollercoaster round with seven birdies, a bogey and two double bogeys, but thanked her caddie Luis for reading the lines on the subtle greens.
“My caddie did some good work for me today, he was excellent at reading the greens,” said Takanashi, who is the subject of a Canadian television documentary crew who followed her every step this week.
“I am shaking now, I have even got goose bumps. I was very nervous out there today, I have never seen so many television people, including my guys.
“Standing over that last putt, I was just thinking playoff-win-playoff-win, and I made it!”
