(Borgo San Lorenzo, Italy, May 19 2002) Denmark’s Iben Tinning snared her second tour title in two weeks and leads the 2002 Evian Tour order of merit after defeating Italian Silvia Cavalleri in a tense battle during the final round of the La Perla Italian Open at Poggio dei Medici in Tuscany.

The 28-year-old from Copenhagen fired a final round three under par 70 to finish on 14 under and pip the local favourite by a shot.

Cavalleri – Couldn’t make a putt

“I was pretty comfortable out there, but I just couldn’t get the ball in the hole this afternoon,” said Cavalleri, who also finished second in the 2000 Italian Open.

“Well done to Iben, she never made a bogey out there and that made it very difficult for me.”

Tinning now leads the order of merit with 3521 points with Norway’s Suzann Pettersen in second place on 2448 points.
